Dr Isaac Chong graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore in 1994. He started Canaan Dental Surgery as a single chair practice in Siglap in 1996 together with his wife. Canaan Dental has since grown into a six chair group practice that focuses on Comprehensive and Esthetic Dentistry for the whole family.
He has completed an orthodontic training programme in California, USA. He has also pursued a postgraduate level training in contemporary Esthetic Dentistry at the University of Minnesota. He successfully completed the rigorous requirements and received the Certificate of Contemporary Restorative & Esthetic Dentistry from the University of Minnesota. His passion in Esthetic Dentistry is evident in the 16 trips made to Minnesota within the 3 years period taken to complete the course.
Dr Isaac, a firm believer of continuing education, pursued further training in the management of Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, including spending time in the Orofacial Pain Center at the University of Kentucky, where he had the opportunity to learn from Professor Okeson. Dr Isaac was subsequently awarded the Diplomate Status of the American Board of Orofacial Pain in 2013 by examination. This status recognises his training and expertise in the field of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction and Orofacial Pain.
Dr Isaac helps his patients achieve a smile through a combination of Orthodontics and Esthetic Dentistry. To keep abreast with the latest technology and techniques in Dentistry, Dr Isaac attends numerous continuing education programmes both locally and internationally.
Dr Isaac particularly enjoys imparting his skills and knowledge in cosmetic dentistry and is actively involved in conducting lectures and hands-on courses for practicing dentists in Singapore as well as in Asia. In 2007, Dr Isaac was made an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry at the National University of Singapore.
He was the President of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (Singapore) 2009-2011. He has also been admitted to the Academy of Laser Dentistry, an international organization devoted to laser dentistry, by examination.
Dr Isaac is a Participating Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) since 1996 and is on the Academy’s referral list, which only recommends qualified cosmetic dentists to patients who seek results for their dental restorations and smile designs.
Dr Isaac is currently serving in the community project with City Harvest Community Services Association, using dentistry to help the under-privileged in Singapore regain their smile and confidence. He, together with his wife and two teenage kids have also travelled to Laos to help with dental screening for the children in the orphanage.
In his free time, Dr Isaac plays the piano and organ, he especially enjoys playing Christian music, both traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship songs. In addition, he has a strong interest in photography, and enjoys capturing the beauty of nature through his lens, especially the colourful sunrise and sunsets that are often forgotten in our busy hurried world.
