Emergency Dental Care

A dental emergency includes issues like severe toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost filling or crown, swelling, infection, or trauma to the mouth. If you're in pain or something feels urgent, it's best to contact us right away.

1. Find the tooth and hold it by the top (the crown), not the root.
2. Gently rinse it with milk or water if dirty. DO NOT scrub or use soap.
3. Try to reinsert it into the socket (only if it’s a permanent tooth). DO NOT reinsert if it’s a baby tooth.
4. If you can’t reinsert it, keep the tooth moist in saliva (under your tongue or inside the cheek) or a cup of milk.
5. See a dentist immediately within 30 to 60 minutes.

We recommend calling us first so we can assess your situation and prepare for your arrival. This helps us ensure you’re seen as quickly and efficiently as possible. While we do our best to accommodate walk-ins for urgent cases, some emergencies may require specialised equipment that’s only available in a hospital setting. If that’s the case, we’ll guide you to the nearest facility equipped to help. Your safety and care are our top priority.

In most cases, yes. We aim to provide same-day treatment or at least pain relief and stabilisation. Follow-up visits may be needed for more complex procedures. If we’re unable to assist you, we will direct you to the nearest and most appropriate dental clinic/ institution.

Tooth pain can have many causes, so it’s important to see a dentist as soon as you can. In the meantime, over-the-counter pain relief (like paracetamol) and a cold compress on the outside of your cheek may help ease discomfort and reduce swelling. Avoid using heat or placing aspirin directly on the gums, as this can cause irritation or burns. We understand that getting it fixed might feel daunting or seem expensive, but avoiding treatment or trying to manage it yourself for too long can make things worse, leading to more pain, complications, and even higher costs down the track! It’s always better to get things checked early.
